A transcript of the "Chopsticks!" episode. Scene 1: Dinnertime[In the living room, Oobi is seen coloring in a coloring book. He puts his crayon down and looks at the viewer.]
[Oobi looks at his coloring book.]
[He walks off to the left. The scene cuts to the kitchen, where Grampu is standing.]
[Oobi enters from the right.]
[Oobi moves over to the right.]
[Oobi scratches his head and looks at the viewer.]
[Uma runs in from the right and knocks Oobi over.]
[Grampu laughs, and Oobi gets up from the floor.]
[Oobi and Uma gasp excitedly.]
[Uma goes off to the right.]
Scene 2: At the restaurant[The next scene is set at the Chinese restaurant. Uma, Oobi, and Grampu are seen entering.]
[Uma looks and points at some paper lanterns.]
[Grampu stops.]
[They go silent for a few moments. Chinese music plays throughout.]
[Oobi looks at a jaded statue.]
[Uma and Oobi look at him.]
[Grampu goes off to the right.]
[The kids follow Grampu.] Scene 3: Meeting Nick[Uma hums, and Grampu sighs contently. Nick, the waiter, walks toward them and bows.]
[Nick moves over to a table. Grampu, Oobi, and Uma follow him.]
[Nick walks away to get a menu. On the table, there are crackers and sauce.]
[Oobi points at the sauce.]
[Uma straightens her fingers out and places her thumb underneath them, giving off the appearance of a duck's bill.]
[Oobi and Grampu laugh.]
[Uma scratches her head.]
[She picks up a Chinese cracker and dips it in the duck sauce. She eats the cracker.]
[Oobi and Grampu laugh. Nick walks toward the table with a menu in his hand and sets it down.]
[The camera zooms in on the menu. Grampu points at the egg roll, shrimp, and dumpling one by one, starting at the bottom.]
[The camera zooms back out to the table.]
[Nick takes the menu and leaves to prepare the food.]
[Uma notices some pictures on a nearby wall.]
Scene 4: The wall of photos[Oobi, Uma, and Grampu walk up to the restaurant's wall of photos. The first photo shows some hand puppets in a Chinese city.]
[The next photo shows a Peking opera singer.]
[The third photo shows a family of hand puppets near the Great Wall of China.]
[Uma points to a little girl in the picture. The girl is holding a purse similar to Uma's.]
[Nick walks back on screen.]
Scene 5: Dinner is served[Nick walks up to the dinner table and names the different foods being served.]
[Nick brings over some chopsticks. Uma looks at them and is confused.]
[Grampu uses two chopsticks to pick up a piece of shrimp.]
[Oobi uses a single chopstick to pick up a dumpling.]
[Uma tries to use two chopsticks, but she drops them on the floor.]
[Grampu gives Uma another pair of chopsticks.]
[Uma tries to use the chopsticks, but she still has trouble.]
[Uma falls down and drops the chopsticks again.]
Scene 6: Interview[The next scene is an interview segment. Kako is interviewing a girl named Vivian, who is using chopsticks.]
[Vivian uses her chopsticks to feed some noodles to Kako.]
[Vivian nods her head happily.] Scene 7: Learning from Nick[Back at the Chinese restaurant, Uma is still struggling to use chopsticks.] Uma: [straining] Hmm, chopsticks hard. Hmm... Uma idea. 'Scuse me. [Uma leaves to find Nick.]
[Uma walks over to Nick, who is preparing a bowl of jellyfish.]
[Uma shows Nick her purse.]
Grampu: [walking in] Uma?
[Nick whispers into Grampu's ear.]
[Grampu narrates as Nick demonstrates how to use chopsticks.]
[Nick uses chopsticks to feed some jellyfish to Grampu. Grampu is disgusted by the jellyfish.]
[Uma tries to use chopsticks herself, feeding some jellyfish to Grampu.]
[Uma goes back to the dinner table.]
[Grampu looks at Nick's plate of jellyfish and shudders. He follows Uma to the dinner table.] Scene 8: Fortune cookies[Uma and Grampu rejoin Oobi at the dinner table.]
[Nick brings a plate of fortune cookies to the table. The plate also has a tiny blue umbrella on it.]
[Nick gives the umbrella to Uma.]
[Oobi gives Uma a fortune cookie. She takes the fortune paper out.]
[The camera zooms in on Oobi. He faces the viewers.]
