This is a gallery of Noggin commercials that featured Oobi. Most commercials used preexisting clips or photos from the show. A few exclusive Oobi bumpers were specially filmed on set with the puppeteers, instead of just using footage from episodes. These aren't listed here - please see the separate Bumpers category for info on them. For commercials from channels other than Noggin, see this page: Other commercials. 2001Oobi Online promoWhen the Oobi shorts started airing in 2000, they had no ending bumpers. Sometime in late 2001, an ending bumper was added to them, advertising a section of Noggin's website called "Oobi Online". The section was a portal for online Flash games. There were two versions of this bumper. The earlier version mostly used recordings of the online games, along with one clip from "Pretend Catch!". This version showed Noggin.com's old layout, which was dark blue and had bubble-shaped icons for every show. When Noggin changed the layout of its website, an updated version of the bumper was made. The new version added clips from the shorts "Dance!", "Drawing Game!", and "Music!". It showed the newer layout of Noggin.com, which was light green and had square icons for every show. When long-form episodes of Oobi premiered in 2003, this bumper was phased out, and a new ending bumper (see below) was made for the long-form show. Noggin on DirecTVIn 2001, the DirecTV cable company made a commercial to advertise Noggin. The end of the commercial showed a montage of Noggin characters, including Oobi. 2002Feetface sign-onThis was a music video that Noggin used to start each broadcast day. It stars Feetface, the first host of Noggin. It was played every day from 2002 to early 2003. It uses clips from the Oobi shorts "Nature!" and "Slide!". There were two versions: a startup version and a midday version. The startup version was used at the beginning of each day. It shows Feetface sleeping, waking up, and rushing to start the song. The midday version was used throughout the day, and it starts off with Feetface walking and ready to sing. Feetface sign-offThis was a music video that Noggin played at the end of each broadcast day. It stars Feetface singing about bedtime routines. It uses a clip from the Oobi short "Flush!". What Is Noggin? This was a promo talking about the mission of Noggin as a brand. It uses clips from the shorts "Bubble Bath!" and "Pinch Pot!". Noggin at Jillian'sThis was an ad for Noggin Play Days, an event held at Jillian's restaurants. It also uses a clip from "Pinch Pot!". Tiny Planets promoThis was an ending bumper for another series of shorts, Tiny Planets, which started playing on Noggin in 2002. Oobi made a small cameo in the bumper as one of the icons on Noggin.com. Sesame promoThis was an ending bumper for Play with Me Sesame. Like in the Tiny Planets one, Oobi made a small cameo in the bumper as one of the icons on Noggin.com. Class of 2003To celebrate the last few months of 2002, Noggin aired a promo called "Class of 2003". It advertised the upcoming lineup of shows for 2003. It started playing in September 2002 and was still shown as late as April 2003. It uses a clip from the short "Tea!". Grover SongThis was a music video sung by Grover from Sesame Street. It was used to advertise Play with Me Sesame and other new additions to the Noggin channel. Along with airing on Noggin, the video played on the main Nickelodeon channel during the Nick Jr. block. It uses clips from the Oobi shorts "Dig!", "Hide and Seek!", and "Pinch Pot!". 2003Alphabet SizzleIn April 2003, Noggin rebranded and added a new host, Moose. This was used as an intro to Noggin's rebranding. It features Moose and other Noggin characters singing the alphabet. It uses clips from "Peekaboo!" and the season two theme song. The commercial was also available as a video on NickJr.com. (source) Use Your NogginThis is another musical commercial with Moose. It aired during most commercial breaks from 2003 to 2005. It is a song about different ways to "use your Noggin" (use your head to think). Two clips from the shorts "Clap Hands!" and "Guitar!" are used. The Biggest TriangleAs part of Noggin's relaunch, it played interactive games before each show. They were used as a way to promote the upcoming show while adding an educational aspect to the channel. One of them, "The Biggest Triangle", was a guessing game where Moose showed three triangles with Oobi and Uma inside. He asked the viewers to figure out which one was the biggest. The game had two parts: one played at the start of the commercial break, and another played at the end as a lead-in to the show. Find the OctagonThis was another interactive game, used before airings of the cartoon Oswald. In the game, Moose shows three shapes and asks the viewers to count the sides. One of the shapes is a triangle with Oobi and Uma inside, just like in the other game. The goal of the game was to find the octagon, which had Oswald inside. G SoundThis was another interactive game, used before airings of the show Gullah Gullah Island. In the game, Moose shows three icons and asks the viewers which one starts with the "G" sound. One of the icons is a photo of Oobi and Uma. Oobi at Noggin.comStarting in April 2003, most Noggin shows (like Oobi, Tiny Planets, and Play with Me Sesame) ended with a bumper advertising the show's online games on Noggin.com. They were similar to the bumpers that played after the Oobi shorts in 2002. The new ending bumper for Oobi used clips from "Uma Swing!" and "Camp Out!". The narration for the bumper was: "Oobi's saying goodbye for now on your TV, but he's always with you at Noggin.com. Just click on Oobi and lend him a hand." An updated version of this promo was made in 2007. It had a different narrator and advertised "DailyNoggin.com" instead of Noggin's regular website. Other Noggin.com bumpersIn the ending bumpers for other shows, Oobi made a cameo as an icon. Doodle PadDoodle Pad was a game on Noggin.com where players could make a digital drawing and submit it to Noggin. One of Noggin's traditions was showing these drawings on air. Oobi was featured in some of the drawings, and he was sometimes seen as an icon on the screen. 2004Club NogginThis was a launch commercial for Club Noggin, an event held at malls across America. It uses a clip from "Playdate!". Office promoThis ad was made to appeal to parents watching Noggin. It's set in an office building, where a few adult workers use their computers to play games on Noggin.com. One of the games is Oobi Numbers. 2005Valentine's DayThis was an ad for the premiere of the "Valentine!" episode, which first aired on February 11, 2005. In the ad, Moose gets some letters in the mail. After sorting through a bunch of bills, he finds a valentine card from Oobi and reads it out loud. It says: "Roses red, violets blue. Happy Valentine's Day from Oobi, Uma, and Kako too." Curriculum boardIn late 2005, Noggin added "curriculum boards" to the start of each show. These were static screens that listed the educational value of the shows. They were used until the Noggin channel closed in 2009. The board for Oobi said that it enhanced early literacy and math skills (though only a few episodes feature anything related to math). Oobi Is Up NextAround the same time as the curriculum boards, Noggin added "up next" screens for its shows. The one for Oobi had two parts: a "next" screen at the beginning of each commercial break, and a "now" screen just before the show started. Countless different colors and symbols were used for these screens, but they always used the same two photos: one of Uma, Kako, and Grampu outside, and one of Oobi and Uma in the kitchen. Halloween Spook-tacularIn October 2005, Noggin ran a Halloween marathon called the "Halloween Spook-tacular". A rerun of the Oobi episode "Halloween!" (which premiered a year before in 2004) was shown as part of the marathon, and a clip from the episode was used in the marathon's promo. 2009Earth DayIn April 2009, Noggin ran a marathon of nature-themed episodes for Earth Day, including "Garden Day!" from Oobi. The marathon's commercial used a shot of Uma from the episode. 2015Get StartedIn 2015, Noggin was relaunched as a mobile streaming app. A commercial called "Get Started" was made to advertise the app. Oobi appeared twice in the commercial: first, he dances in a little house, and second, he waves to the viewers on an iPad. Noggin App HolidayIn December 2015, the Noggin App ran a new commercial for the holidays. Oobi was only seen as an icon at the beginning. UnusedMotion GraphicsSarah Berchild, a graphic designer from New York, made an unused bumper for Noggin in 2003. It was an "up next" promo that showed different characters in a connect-the-dots game: Oobi, Blue from Blue's Clues, and Bert from Play with Me Sesame. The concept was never used on TV, but Sarah Berchild uploaded a screenshot from the promo to her online portfolio. (source) |
