John Montagna is a singer, bassist, and songwriter from New York. He is the singer of the Oobi theme song, which plays at the beginning and end of every episode.

Bio

John Montagna was born in 1972 in Astoria, New York. He began playing the bass guitar in local bands at age 12. He attended the LaGuardia High School of Music and Art, where he played in the orchestra and in the jazz band. He later went to Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he joined the band 12 Strung Gypsy.

He returned to New York in 1995 and made a solo CD, "Enjoy Your Dessert," in 1997. He accepted various local gigs, including some for television. In 1999, he recorded the theme song for Oobi at Little Airplane Productions. He later sung the theme song for another kids' show, Kenny the Shark, in 2003.

Since the early 2010s, John has been a frequent producer and contributor to music podcasts in New York, such as Radio418 and Breaking It Down with Jeff and John. He released a second solo album, "Late to the Party," in 2016.
