The Kids First! Film Festival was an annual event held by Kids First, a company that screens TV shows for kids and teens. The 2001 and 2002 festivals featured episodes of Oobi from season one. The festivals were held in 13 cities across the United States.

Description

Each Oobi short lasts 1-2 minutes. The Kids First website says that it played 15 minutes of Oobi, which means seven or eight different shorts were shown at each festival. "Dance!", "Hide and Seek!", and "Bubble Bath!" were three of them.

Reviews

At each festival, the shorts were screened and reviewed by two teams of kid and adult critics. On their website, Kids First features snippets of both teams' reviews.

Kids: Extremely well received. Kids laughed, danced and did especially clever things with their hands: made shapes, puppets and just looked at their hands differently. "When the girl hand kissed us - I loved that part the most." "It was too short!" (source)
Adults: Thoroughly enjoyable. Smart, creative and unique. Short, one-set segments and simple, two-word sentences are easy to follow. Hand characters are highly imitable, racially diverse and model excellent behavior. "Great alternative for commercial breaks." (source)
