Scene 1: Grampu's painting
[The episode starts in the hallway of the house . Grampu is hanging a colorful, abstract painting on the wall, but it's crooked.]
[After Grampu calls, Oobi , Uma , and Kako rush into the room and knock into each other.]
Oobi: Oobi O.K. Uma O.K.-- Uma? Uma?
[Uma is stuck on Oobi's back.]
[Kako pulls Uma off of Oobi.]
Oobi: Oh. [laughs] Uma O.K.?
Grampu: Oobi, Uma, Kako? Help Grampu.
Oobi, Uma, and Kako: O.K.
Oobi: Oh, Oobi help Grampu. You help Grampu. You , help Grampu!
Grampu: Hmm... [moves the painting] Painting straight?
Voice #1: [boy] No, it's crooked.
Grampu: [moves it again] Straight?
Grampu: [turns the painting a little] Straight?
Voice #2: [boy] Yes, now it's straight.
Grampu: Thank you! [turns to the viewers] Thank you.
[Oobi points to the painting, confused.]
Oobi, Uma, and Kako: [together] Oh.
Grampu: Grampu make. [poses proudly]
Oobi: Grampu make art. Oobi make art?
Grampu: Yes! Oobi, Kako, Uma make art.
Oobi, Uma, and Kako: [cheering] Yay!
[Grampu walks to the living room, and the kids follow him, excited to make their own artwork.]
Scene 2: Art supplies
[In the next scene, Grampu has set out an easel, piles of construction paper, and a few canisters of paint.]
Grampu: Oobi, Uma, Kako, art supplies.
Oobi, Uma, and Kako: [together] Art supplies?
Grampu: Uh-huh. Paint, crayons, ribbons, shapes, paper. Art supplies.
Oobi, Uma, and Kako: Ooh!
[Oobi is hesitant to start using the supplies.]
Uma: Ooh, Grampu? Grampu?
Uma: Uma like circles. Mm.
[Uma holds up a green square.]
Grampu: [shakes his head "no"] Huh-uh.
Grampu: Oh! [to the viewers] You help Uma. You , help.
[Uma holds up a yellow square.]
Voice #3: [boy] No, that's a square.
Grampu: Square, yes! Four sides. One, two, three, four. Square.
[Uma holds up a blue triangle.]
Voice #5: [boy] No, that's a triangle.
Grampu: Triangle, yes! Three sides. One, two, three. Triangle.
[This time, Uma holds up a small green circle.]
Voice #6: [boy] It's a circle.
Voice #7: [boy] That's it; that's a circle.
Grampu: Circle, yes! Round. Good help.
Uma: Ooh, yay! Uma circle!
[Uma picks up a bunch of different circles, saying "Circle!" each time. She sticks one on Grampu's face.]
Scene 3: Artist at work
[The scene switches back to Oobi, who is having trouble thinking of an idea for his artwork. He stares down at a blank paper.]
Oobi: Um, Oobi... thinking.
Grampu: O.K. Artist at work.
Scene 4: Kako's pattern
[Kako is using a paintbrush to draw a set of lines in different colors.]
Kako: Yeah. Kako like colors. Yellow, green, blue. Yellow, green, blue. Yellow, green... next color?
Grampu: Hmm... [looks at the viewers] Oh! You help Kako.
Kako: Oh, yeah, you help Kako.
Grampu: Yellow, green, blue. Yellow, green, blue. Yellow, green... hmm. Next?
Voice #9: [kid] The next color is blue.
Grampu: Blue, yes! [laughs] Yellow, green, blue. Yellow, green, blue. Yellow, green, blue.
[Kako paints another blue line and accidentally gets some paint on Grampu.]
Grampu: Lovely. Uh... Grampu wash.
Scene 5: Oobi's collage
[Oobi still can't figure out what to make.]
Oobi: [sadly] Oobi no art. Oobi think, Oobi think... no art.
Grampu: Huh. Oobi like circles?
Grampu: Oobi like, oh, colors?
Oobi: Oobi like... Oobi like cheese.
Oobi: Cheese, Oobi like cheese.
[Grampu grabs a slice of cheese from the kitchen. Oobi happily takes a glue stick and glues it to a piece of construction paper.]
Oobi: Oh. Oobi like... toothpaste.
[Uma brings over a tube of toothpaste. Oobi squirts some of it on the paper.]
Grampu: Ooh, interesting.
Oobi: Oobi like... flowers.
[Kako brings Oobi some faux flowers.]
Uma, Kako, and Grampu: [together] Oh! Ooh!
[Oobi holds up his finished artwork: an avant-garde collage of things he likes.]
Grampu: Special. Oobi artist!
Scene 6: Artwork on display
[Grampu has hung all three pieces of art on the fridge: Uma's circle-themed piece, Oobi's collage, and Kako's colorful pattern.]
Grampu: [points to Uma's] Uma...
Oobi, Uma, and Kako: [together] Ooh!
Oobi, Uma, and Kako: [together] Ooh!
Oobi, Uma, and Kako: [together] Ooh!
Oobi, Uma, and Kako: [together] Ooooooh!
Oobi: [to the viewers] You ooh. You, ooh!
Kids and Voices: [all] Ooh! [laughter] Ooh!
Scene 7: Interview
[Kako is in front of some paint canisters.]
Kid #1: I like art because you get to do whatever you want. And you get to make stuff and create stuff your own way.
Kako: You art. Perfecto. (kisses)
Scene 8: Game segment
[Uma is in the living room, looking at a square-shaped piece of paper on a chair.]
Uma: Square. Chair! [laughs] Oobi, Kako. [laughs] Square, chair. Square, chair.
Oobi, Uma, and Kako: [together] ♪ Game game, game game. Game game, game game. Game! ♪
Kako: Square, chair. Rhyme. You rhyme. Square, chair.
[Oobi runs off screen and comes back wearing a big, blonde wig.]
Kako: Yeah! Square, chair, hair. Rhyme! You rhyme.
[Oobi holds up a pear.]
Kako: Pear. Square, chair, hair, pear. Rhyme! Game over.
Uma: [looks at the pear] Share?
Kako: Share, rhyme. Square, chair, hair, pear, share. Rhyme!
[Uma and Kako walk away, nibbling at the pear.]
Oobi: [to the viewers] Oobi, you, friends! Bye.
Voice #5: [girl] Bye-bye, Oobi, bye.
